How to Apply a Weight to a Specific Column Only

This article describes how to go from a standard crosstab...

...to a crosstab with a weight applied to a specific column, e.g. the Male column:

Requirements

• A crosstab without spans
• A weight variable

Method

1. Select your table.
2. In the toolbar go to Automate > Browse Online Library > Weight > Apply Weight to Column.
3. Select Column to weight.
4. Select your Weight variable.
5. Press OK.

Note, this is achieved by generating a new table, applying the selected weight to that table, and then copying the column of weighted numbers into the original table.

Furthermore, the significance testing results for the weighted columns are taken from the weighted table and no attempt is made to reconcile tests between the weighted and unweighted portions of the table.
