Introduction
Some data files can have a hierarchical structure (e.g., data may be collected from each member of a household, or, from a person at multiple occasions). This article describes how to analyze heirarchical databases in Q
Method
There are four main ways of analyzing hierarchical data in Q:
- As. Where the data files are in formats other than SPSS .sav they will first need to be converted to this format prior to stacking (see Save Data as SPSS/CSV File).
- Via the multivariate Question Types (e.g., Number - Multi, Pick Any - Grid, etc.).
- By Stacking.
- By writing code (particularly via R).
