Insert Variable(s) Menu

This article describes the options in the Insert Variable(s) menu:

Method

  • In the Variables and Questions tab, right-click the location where you want to insert a variable and select an opton from the menu
Binary - Complicated Filter... Opens the Construct Binary Variable dialog box and inserts the resulting variable at the position of the mouse pointer.

 

Code Text - New Code Frame... Starts coding a text variable into a Pick One or a Pick Any question.

 

Code Text - Reuse by Sharing Code Frame Reuses your coding of a text variable to code another text variable. The coding will be shared, so changes to one will affect the other.

 

Code Text - Reuse by Copying Code Frame Reuses your coding of a text variable to code another text variable. The coding will be copied, so changes to one will not affect the other.

 

Excel-Style Formula - Numeric or Text... Opens the Data tab and starts you writing a new Excel-style formula variable.

 

JavaScript Formula - Numeric... Opens the Construct Numeric Variable dialog box and inserts the resulting variable at the position of the mouse pointer.

 

JavaScript Formula - Text... Opens the Construct Text Variable dialog box and inserts the resulting variable at the position of the mouse pointer.

 

Paste Data (e.g. From Excel) Makes a new variable using data from the clipboard. Usually you will copy the data from an Excel column. The data you copy must match the order of the data in your project.

 

Weight... Opens the Construct Weight dialog box and inserts the resulting variable at the position of the mouse pointer.
